Sarah Pearson

Sarah Pearson
Sarah is a skilled Registered Psychotherapist who brings extensive experience to her work with individuals and couples, helping them to find new meaning, hope and possibility in their lives. She is known for her warm and genuine presence, and for making therapy feel like a cooperative, creative journey embarked on together.

In practice since 2013, Sarah is passionate about supporting people to uncover more “real” versions of themselves. It is so easy to become stuck in roles or habits that don’t feel like our authentic selves, and which can seem impossible to escape. Sarah brings a strength’s-based perspective to the work she does with you, drawing on multiple approaches to therapy including, Narrative, Internal Family Systems, and Psychodynamic Ego State Therapy, to help clients find their way through life-limiting situations.

More recently Sarah has enhanced the work that she does with couples, by training in and practicing Emotionally Focused Therapy. This widely renowned approach to couples counselling is enormously helpful in identifying the negative cycles in our relationships that pull us apart, and in finding new ways to help couples meet each other’s emotional needs so that their relationship becomes a safe and exciting “home base”. Understanding our core relationship patterns can help to free us from exhausting patterns that play out in other areas of our lives, and can help all our relationships. Sarah is open and inviting of diverse relationship styles.

Sarah has further training in Relational Gestalt from the Gestalt Institute of Toronto, Emotion-Focused Therapy from the York University EFT Training Institute, and is completing a second graduate diploma in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy at Martin Luther University. She practices under the supervision of Dr. Debbie Wang so that all her couple-clients have the benefit of Dr. Wang’s additional wisdom.

Sarah began her training in the field of therapy at the Master’s Level as an Accredited Music Therapist and practicing artist, she is a passionate believer in the power of creativity to help us through our deepest struggles. She is skilled at working with the wisdom of the body that can arise in sessions, as well as with the hidden riddles of dreams. She has six years of experience working in inpatient oncology and palliative care and has walked alongside countless families and individuals down their winding path of grief and loss.  Sarah has a great heart!

Sarah also enjoys conversing in French, for those clients who would prefer.

Sarah is a member of the Ontario Association of Consultants, Psychometrics and Psychotherapists as well as the Canadian Association of Music Therapists.
